Every issue I write about how we are trying to always be better for you. And we really are. We believe in continuous improvement. We know that we have come a long way, but as a store, we have a long way to go. I feel that we have just hit our stride as a team. And as a store, we have really just begun to find what it means to be ABC Bicycles. Thank you for your support on this journey.

I celebrated the beginning of my 13th year of owner and steward of ABC Bicycles on February 1st. And even though I did not know what the hell I was doing or where I was going, this day in 2001 ranks as one of the top three best days of my life. I was just a 23 year old with a college degree, keys to a small garage apartment and a murky vision of bike shop retail. Every year I think about that day when I signed the papers and got the keys. It still makes me sweat. I just want to thank you all for betting on me to succeed, for supporting me even when I had only one pump to sell, and for making me totally love my job.

I am so excited for this year. I feel like the store is just beginning
to hit its stride. We have come such a long way over the last 12 years,
but we still have a long way to go. We have a ton of events planned at
the shop and in the city. This year we are more focused on our culture
and our customers than we have ever been. As a small business we know
our customers are important. Our business can only be successful
through your support. And we feel that our plan for 2013 is the best
way to let you know how much you mean to us.

The holiday season is important to me. I always take the time to realize how lucky I am in life. I am surrounded by great people, family, friends, and customers. And I just want to THANK everyone for giving me the opportunity to be where I am as I write this.
So to my parents, thank you for taking a chance and always believing in me. To my wife... thank you for always encouraging me on every crazy idea I have ever had. And thank you to my employees, who followed her lead. And to you, my customers, thank you for making ABC Bicycles your bicycle store. Your business is more than appreciated and never taken for granted. As JFK said, "…as we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them…"
