"Who does not thank for little will not thank for much." ~Estonian Proverb
The holiday season is important to me. I always take the time to realize how lucky I am in life. I am surrounded by great people, family, friends, and customers. And I just want to THANK everyone for giving me the opportunity to be where I am as I write this...
The vision of the ABC Bicycles is simple. Our staff is here for the customer. We are here to create a fun and exciting experience where customers will enjoy just popping in to say "hello." We want to create the comfort of a barbershop with the service of the Bentley dealership.
We will take ourselves very seriously, but have the humility to also smile and relax under stress or criticism. We will always be better. I use this term on purpose because of its vagueness. We will become better people, which will serve as a foundation as a better retailer. We will not pretend to be something or someone we are not. It is with truth, hard work and integrity that the employees of ABC Bicycles will not only represent the Trek brand or the store, but themselves as people. Ultimately, we want our customers to have fun
Women's Section
Over the last ten years, we have worked hard to increase our selection of women's products. In 2008 when we expanded (950 square feet), we dedicated all of this new space to women's specific products.
We have a great selection of women specific products from the leaders in the industry. From women specific bikes, to clothing, to shoes, to water bottle cages, to pumps, we have hand selected products that women want and deserve to make their experience fun and comfortable.
We have bikes from TREK. The bikes have women specific geometry for better handling and comfort. They have women specific saddles which address wider sit bones and soft tissue areas. The handlebars are shallower and narrower for smaller hands, allowing for more control and comfort.
We have clothing from both Bontager and Pearl Izumi. We are one of the states largest Pearl Izumi accounts, offering you one of the widest selections of women's clothing in the area. We have gloves and helmets from Giro, addressing smaller hands and head circumference for a more secure fit. And our selection of shoes from Bontager, Sidi, Shimano, and Pearl Izumi allows any women to find the proper fit. We have chosen these products to ensure a great experience both in the shop and on the road. We will continue to commit ourselves to our women customers.
Our women customers have supported us for years, even before we were as committed to women specific products. They asked for a better selection. We listened. We consistently strive to give want they want and deserve. To all of our women customers - Thank You. We thank you for your commitment to us and know that we are trying our best as a leader in women specific selections.
ABC Bicycles Fit Philosophy
ABC Bicycles believes that the fit and feel of the bicycle is the most important aspect of purchasing any bicycle. We have many customers that focus on components or color, which do matter. However, the three largest parts of the bicycle, the frame, fork, and wheels, are the key factors in creating a bicycle that will be stable, comfortable, and fun to ride. These are the three things that will separate any TREK or Gary Fisher bicycle from the competition.
Components are just like the heated seats or stereo in a car, they do benefit the quality of the ride. However, like a car, the handling and drive quality are totally determined by the car frame, its steering capabilities, and wheels. Every car will have a stereo, you can get that anywhere. But, the actual ride quality is only found in a particular design or model of a particular brand. It is this honest, real world philosophy that gives us an understanding of our bikes and your body and how they must "fit" together comfortably.
Traditional bike fitting approaches (tool kits, articles etc.), are based on formulas and key measurements. These are "cookie-cutter" formulas that take every person and place them in a "position" that their body may, or may not, be able to adjust to.
We believe that every person has a unique body build (mechanical, muscular, etc). In order to address each rider individually, our Fit System addresses each person on an individual basis, taking into account their anatomy, flexibility, range of motion and riding style.
We feel that an educated customer will make an informed decision when purchasing any bicycle.
We have prepared a page of information, that you can print out, with details on fitting and what you need to bring to your fit session. Click Here ( 17K PDF)
Floor Sizing
Floor Sizing ($20.00 for new bicycle -$50.00 for existing bicycle)
A Bike Sizing will allow us to select the proper frame size for your body. The bike sizing will allow us to place the rider in a "developmental" position where they can try many different bicycles until they are confident in the size/or model.
Through three body measurements, we will be able to calculate a starting saddle height, frame size, top-tube length, and stem length. Getting measured for a road bicycle is just like getting measured for a tuxedo or formal dress.
These specific measurements will accurately determine a starting point in which to begin your cycling experience. It is strongly recommended that you make an appointment for a Performance Fit within the first six months, so we can do a total body analysis.
Performance Fit
Performance Fit ($125.00) (with aerobars $160.00)
We believe that every person has a unique body build (mechanical, muscular, etc). In order to address each rider individually, our Fit System addresses each person on an individual basis, taking into account their anatomy, flexibility, range of motion and riding style.
A Performance Fit takes the bike fitting process much further. By employing body alignment principles learned from physical therapy and yoga, the certified fit technician and rider will be able to distinguish specific limiters and preferences with regards to riding style.
A complete, in-depth interview and body assessment are used to diagnose each persons flexibility level and body alignment to determine the most efficient and comfortable position on their bike. This fitting is guaranteed for one year.
Whether you bought your bike at ABC or at another shop, a road or triathlon bike, a Performance Fit will be able to greatly improve your comfort level, resulting in improved performance and fun factor.
Cleat Alignment
Cleat Alignment ($40.00)
Rotational Adjustment Devices (R.A.D.s™) are ingenious devices recognized by cycling technicians, coaches, and podiatric professionals as the best and most reliable method for setting the cleat position on the cycling shoe, allowing for the rider's natural gait.
Correct rotational alignment of the cleat is necessary for a secure and efficient coupling. It also greatly reduces equipment induced injury and the potential for traumatic injury that can result from an inadvertent release. This service can only be performed if the rider has already been properly fit to his or her bicycle.
Customer is responsible for all stem, handlebar, saddle, and seatpost changes as well as any labor charges to make the recommended modifications.
The customer is not obligated to change anything.
We are here to help.
Kid's Bicycles
We have a great selection of bicycles and gear for children including bikes, helmets, training wheels, and much, much more.
Our well trained staff at ABC Bicycles can make buying a bike for your kid(s) a rewarding experience. You'll be surprised to find that buying your kid's bike from us can be less expensive and confusing than buying from one of the "big box" stores. Come in and see.
Take a look at our "Top Ten Reasons" and see why buying your bike from us makes sense.
We know that our kid's bicycles are quite the investment. That is why we designed our "Trade-Up Program" to save you money while keeping your kids on a bike suited to their age, size, and ability.
If you purchase a brand new kid's* bicycle from our store, we will credit you up to 50% of the price you paid towards the purchase of the next sized bicycle.
Just bring the bike back within 3 years of the date of purchase to trade in and we'll give you up to 50%* of your purchase price back in a credit towards a bigger bike! Continue to trade in until your child takes home an adult bike.
* Kids bikes are any 12", 16", 20", and 24" bikes. (Sorry, this does not apply to BMX bikes, Pedal Trailers, Kids Road and Hybrid bikes, and Trikesters.)
How the "Trade Up" Program Works
Your "Trade Up" bicycle must be accompanied by a receipt from ABC Bicycles.
The bike must pass a simple inspection and safety check list. and be in reasonable and rideable condition. The customer is responsible for worn tires, saddles, grips, missing training wheels, and any service work to make the trade in bike in good working order.
(Bicycle must be in safe riding condition. All bicycles will be donated to a local charity Click Here to find out more about this community service program. You will find out much more about ABC's work in this area in the Community section of the main menu.)
If you have any questions about the program, please stop in or call us so we can further explain this great offer.
