The Restaurant Ride lets our customers try out new restaurants and visit some favorites every year. We partner with locally owned places to bring you a dining experience that is personal and fun.
March 29th - Backfin Blue Cafe - ABC Bicycles
(Menu) Michelle recommends the jumbo lump blue crab cakes or homemade meatloaf
In the heart of the gateway to the Gulf, you'll find the Backfin Blue Cafe, where the locals favor this casual dining spot because of its old-Florida charm and the always- great food (featuring the best backfin blue crab cakes south of the Chesapeake: simple and succulent). The Cafe is found inside a charming 1920's cottage in the quaint Gulfport art district. Let owner Harold Russell and his staff wow you with their outstanding service.
April 26th - Fresco's Waterfront Bistro - Trek St. Pete
(Menu) Anne recommends the Fish Spread and the Shrimp Scampi.
In downtown St.Petersburg, the only waterfront restaurant, Fresco's is always fresh. This laid-back dockside spot serves wonderful seafood, steaks and pasta. Known for their seafood dinners and cocktail list, you will be able to relax and enjoy the cool night air, while listening to the water.
(Menu) Rick recommends the Cuban sandwich or the dinner sampler.
The Habana Cafe's list of "Bests" began in 1997, soon after the Cuban family restaurant opened its doors on Florida's Gulf Coast and served its first steaming platters of homemade Picadillo. Today you will still enjoy the most authentic Cuban Cuisine, prepared by award winning chef Jo Hasting. Just remember ""An indulgence that alleviates stress is often a better choice than a sacrifice that creates tension."
(Menu) Debbie recommends the breakfast with cheesy grits.
With an extensive menu that includes classic breakfast favorites, burgers, sandwiches and salads - there is something for everyone at Trip's Diner. Eat outdoors on the patio or relax at the counter. The friendly staff and fast service along with the tasty meals will make you put this on your list of regular spots to eat.
(Menu) Rick recommends the Madras Curry and Anne loves the Rueben Egg rolls.
The Horse and Jockey is a British Pub that has an interesting menu. It includes your typical US bar food (burgers, wings, sandwiches) and a larger assortment of menu items that you would find in an English pub (fish & chips, bangers & mash, Shepherds Pie, steak & Kidney Pie). With 20 beers on tap, the selection will make any aficionado happy.
(Menu) Anne recommends the Jumbo Ale Battered Gulf Shrimp. Delish!
Located along Beach Drive and under some colorful umbrellas, this St.Pete gem is a dining experience worth waiting for. The menu boasts seafood galore, filet mignon, and beautiful salads. Be sure to ask about Chef Tyson's Nightly Culinary Tour - a true foodie experience. Brought to you by Steve Westphal, this is a highlight on the schedule.
(Menu) Richie recommends the vegetarian coconut curry or Chinese short ribs.
Founded by the three partners with French, Vietnamese, and Chinese upbringings, Alésia Restaurant is the culinary embodiment of these childhood influences and the eclectic mix of dishes and flavors they were naturally raised with.
October 25th Dr. BBQ - Trek/ABC Bicycles Combined
(Menu) We recommend the St.Louis Ribs.
Ray Lampe, known to the world as "Dr.BBQ", brings a new dynamic to American BBQ. He draws on his inspiration from his travels and the local tastes of St.Pete. House-smoked meats include anything from Sliced Brisket to Turkey to Sausage. Try the tacos for a meld of different tastes or Ray's Raves to try the house specialties.
